  • Value Engineering: Redesigned the slab system to a raft slab and optimized the framing layout. This eliminated unnecessary structural steel and drastically reduced site excavation costs without compromising design integrity.

Our family recently engaged Walkom Constructions to demolish an existing house and construct three architecturally designed dwellings on the property. We could not be more pleased with the results.

The build took place during the current challenging period for construction due to Covid, and the knock on effects of material cost increases and labour shortages. However the foresight and planning by Walkom Constructions meant our build progressed with next to no disruption and no increase costs over the original contract price.

A concern of ours was the fact we live in QLD and our build was located in Newcastle giving us very limited opportunity to visit the site as the build progressed. However, the communication we had with the project supervisor Dion and Walkom’s use of the digital platform CoConstruct put our minds at ease. We were constantly provided with progress updates as well as a significant amount of photos over the course of the build.

We realised an architecturally designed build would come with challenges, however we appreciated the fact that whenever the team at Walkom construction came across a problem they had already devised a solution before contacting us.

Ultimately, Walkom Constructions have given our family a beautiful home for our Mum and two quality built rental properties completed to the highest standard of workmanship. We would not hesitate to recommend Walkom Constructions to anyone undertaking a custom build.
