Walkom Constructions is an independent renovation and extension building company specialising in high-end and heritage renovations and extensions. We operate in and around Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Region and the Central Coast of NSW.

Hi I'm Chris Walkom

In 2004, I set out on a journey which would take me Worldwide, and Australia Wide.

I began my apprenticeship in Dubbo, NSW after completing year 12. I worked the entire NSW region spanning from Bathurst to Bourke and Lightning Ridge to Lake Cargelligo.

Upon completion of my time I moved over to London to gain experience on renovation jobs specifically period style design, this gave me a great insight into alternative building methods and designs. After 18 months in England, home was calling and Walkom Constructions was born. During the next 2 years in Dubbo I completed a number of renovation and extension projects for my own investments and private clients.

Tempted to challenge myself further I decided to move with my wife Abby to Newcastle in April 2015. Since that day we have found a strong foundation in Newcastle’s inner suburbs and are happily settled here and have provided our services to many happy customers!

Abby and I have 4 wonderful children Freddy (6), Daisy (4), Billi (3), and Lenny (1). The day to day is a little hectic for us as a family, but we love it and I enjoy involving Abby and the kids in our work and showing them around our projects. Having a family has really made me appreciate and understand the needs of the modern family and how important the design aspect of a home is. Even though Abby works as a carer for people with Cerebral Palsy, she still helps out from time to time with photos, design ideas and inspiration.
